This charming winery is tucked away on a hillside in beautiful Glen Ellen. You will be impressed with the outstanding experience delivered by this cutting edge spot. In the wine world, tradition often tempers creativity, individuality and imagination. But here, an unconventional approach inspires richly expressive wines and a wine drinking experience that entices you to broaden your palate. Imagery Estate Winery is a relaxing and wonderful place to wine taste with your friends, share some wine and share some laughs on the green grass with a shaded picnic area. After you are feeling good from a little wine, it’s time to make some memories playing horse shoes, Bocce Ball or Jenga.

For a truly unique wine, Imagery Estate Winery experiments with new varieties, explores little known grape regions and spotlights wines that are usually swallowed up in big blends. They consider themselves risk takers in the wine industry and don’t follow traditional techniques. Dedicated to crafting rare wines from uncommon varieties and character-rich vineyards, this winery was forged from a thirst for experimentation. Worldly wines like Malbec, Barbera, Tempranillo, and Lagrein will broaden the horizon of anyone, from aspiring wino to seasoned connoisseur. A visit to their estate and you’ll find that taste won’t be the only sense stimulated. Delight your eyes as well as your palate with access to their unique art collection as well.

Imagery Estate Winery was founded by Joe Benziger, whose family has been crafting wines in Sonoma Valley since the 1980s. When he set out to showcase some varieties he had the good fortune of meeting local artist Bob Nugent who agreed to design his first labels. Those labels turned into 20 years of collaboration that has resulted in a unique art collection that fills the tasting room and is on most bottles they produce.

Now, more than 20 years later, Nugent still serves as curator of the Imagery art collection, commissioning hundreds of international artists to design one-of-a-kind artwork for Imagery labels. When artists are chosen to create the bottle labels, they are given complete freedom as to their approach. Bob simply asks that in some way they incorporate/include the Parthenon image (all or part) in the piece.  This piece of the art ties the Benziger Family Winery to the Imagery brand, since they are sister wineries, (the small-scale Parthenon can be found in the vineyard at Benziger).
